Kotro Home started with a simple frustration: most furniture advice looks beautiful and still leaves you guessing about doorways, walkways, and whether the piece will survive real life.
Why we exist
Furniture advice should survive the day the boxes arrive
We’ve watched the same scene play out too many times: someone falls in love with a sofa online, orders it with quiet confidence, then discovers the hallway is tighter than the product page suggested—or the seat depth eats the whole room. The return label becomes the most expensive “design tip” they got that year.
Kotro Home exists because furniture decisions deserve better than mood boards and vague vibes. We write for people furnishing apartments, townhomes, and houses across the United States—people who care how a room feels, and also whether chairs pull out from the table without hitting the wall.
We founded the journal in 2026 as an English-language editorial project first. Not a catalog with a blog stapled on. Not a shop pretending to be neutral. A place that treats measuring tape, material notes, and honest trade-offs as part of good taste.
If you’ve ever stood in a living room with painters tape on the floor, trying to imagine a life that fits—welcome. That’s the reader we keep in mind on every page.

Trends fade. Joinery, fabric performance, finish care, and climate fit don’t. We write so advice still helps after the algorithm moves on.

Every room has limits—budget, square footage, kids, pets, landlords. We name the trade-offs instead of selling a fantasy floor plan.

If something is wrong, we want to know. Fixes belong on the public record of a journal that asks readers to trust it.
We write for renters and homeowners, first apartments and family houses, humid summers and dry winters—American homes with real constraints. If a tip only works in a perfect showroom, it doesn’t belong here.
