Apron
The horizontal rail under a tabletop or seat that stiffens the frame.
Definition
On dining tables and desks, the apron sits below the top and can limit knee clearance. Measure from the floor to the underside of the apron, not only to the tabletop, before you buy chairs or a banquette.
