Kiln-dried lumber is dried in a controlled environment to reach a target moisture content. For furniture sold in the U.S., kiln-dried hardwoods are less likely to warp, crack, or shrink dramatically after delivery compared with improperly dried wood—especially important with seasonal heating and humid summers.
